About Yoshi

Yoshi Jones is a Sydney fashion designer with a cult following. She fuses creative Australian design with Japanese fabric. Her clients have followed her from the stalls of Sydney's iconic Bondi and Paddington markets in the mid-90s to her boutique in the inner-west suburb of Newtown.

Yoshi's bi-cultural heritage is reflected in her design sensibility which seamlessly incorporates Japanese graphics and vintage silk kimonos into garments which encapsulate the Australian style. Preferring to use natural silks and cottons, her garments are contemporary and bold. Yoshi loves Japanese pop culture and often plays with elements of anime and kawaii in her designs.

All of the vintage silk kimonos are unpicked and cut by hand then up-cycled in to new and innovative styles. This traditional production process also allows Yoshi to custom make pieces on request. Her Toku range offers customers the opportunity to commission vintage silk garments.

Yoshi Jones is locally owned, operated and committed to corporate social responsibility and ethical business practices. Almost everything in Yoshi's store is made right here in Sydney. Occasionally something isn't made here, either because it is vintage straight from Japan or features a traditional design element from another culture, and all of these items have clear labelling to allow her customers to make informed, ethical decisions about their purchases.
